1)     What have you been engaged with (been doing) for the past few days?

Just the knowledge in the class because it's challenging for me to understand what new things thought in the course, especially the AF2, and also I spent too much time figuring out and doing the code.

2)     How have you personally changed as a result of your experience in the university this week?  What are you doing that is different, that shows that you have changed?

I can carry out my plan now, I was always put off my plan because I was lazy, but now, I think it's not too hard to do the things following my plan, like go to the gym every two days. And I took the initiative to chat with a foreign friend,

3)     Would you have had the same experiences in GIC? If you say yes, tell us why? If you say no, tell us why? (non-GIC can skip this question) Do not answer this question in Semester 2)

Yes, I had tried to make plans to learn new things or live a better life when I was in GIC, but almost every time I failed to carry out or keep on following my plan. This is because I did not separate my entertainment time and study time exactly, so this decreased my efficiency and made me tired and feel less confident, and I failed to carry my plan out.

4)     What new things did you learn this week?

I do not think I learned something special; just as I mentioned, I keep learning knowledge from courses, and it's enough for me to feel tired.

5)     Which subject was most difficult to study this week, and did you ask the tutors and lab demonstrator to help you?

AF2, as the same, I still feel this class is not easy for me because maybe I'm not good at logic or I'm not good at math, but this course is not like the original math which I learned previously. When I think I understand the whole thing in the class, but when I do the tutorial worksheet, I feel confused, and I think there's something that is not included in the class; the teacher didn't show an example. Secondly, NOSE, it's so confused, I feel I understand in the class but always forget later.

6)     What are your plans for this week? (e.g. I meet my friends to practice English, complete my coursework before the deadline, I will meet my friends to study, etc.) Why do you have these plans?

Watch the videos before the deadline, and also finish the quiz. Try to figure out the NOSE, and search for some other videos that talk about the network. Typing and communicating the code with my friends as last week on Wednesday. And following my daily plan as usual.

7)     Post an image that describes how you feel this week or your thoughts.

haha, Halloween is coming, this is taken when I coding with my classmates, I fed up with coding at that time, so I stand up and walked around and found this portrayal, relax makes me feel better, and I'm looking forward to Halloween.

8)     What did you do for fun this week or what did you find funny?

I played a game with my Chinese friend, I miss him so much. And I hung out and look for some new clothes, but nothing is suitable for me, they are too large though they are S size.

Ruyan,

When a course has difficult concepts, try reading the course material before the lecture, and when you find difficult concepts, research it online or in eBooks. Then when you attend the lecture itself, it will be easier to understand.

I am pleased you took that step to chat with a person from a different country. This is important as it forces you to speak in English. Try to talk to them as much as you can.

If you are struggling with time management, come and see me so we can organise your timetable. Remember that University requires that you spend a lot of non-class time studying and completing assessments. Also, programming takes time therefore, any programming practical tasks require a lot of your time. So, when organising your study timetable, make sure you take that into consideration.

AF2 and NOSE are both challenging, and students are complaining about them, but many students struggle the most with NOSE. Try talking to other students and also, if not already, try and create a study group or join one. Having people to talk to and discuss difficult concepts is very important. It can very difficult studying alone.

Clothes that are too large although they are S size? I wonder where you tried to buy them. this is not surprising, though. this is why it is always best to try them one first.

that image is definitely Halloween-ish! so scary! :-)

It's good to spend some time with friends as studying all the time can be very depressing.
