University Halls of Residence

If you wish to live in the University Halls of Residence you must apply to one of the residences online by August 22nd to be guaranteed a spot. The application is here.

Most Vet students live at Wolfson Halls due to the proximity of the Vet school. Though if you want to cook for yourself there are many other options.

There are 6 options for self-catered (meaning you must cook for yourself) residences owned by the university. They are:

We recommend living in a university owned accommodation for the ease of meeting new people and making connections with students who are non vets (something that you really *will* find important later on). If you're an older student (i.e. past 21), then you might find the University houses a little rowdy and loud.

The two biggest halls are Queen Margret (QM) and Murano. These are were the majority of Glasgow's fresher's intake end up. Both are great with QM being considered slightly less wild and maybe more clean than Murano, but Murano flats will always remain friends for life!

Free SRC (student representative council) Minibuses are available from some accommodation into the centre of the West End (University Avenue). Getting from these halls into vet school can be a bit of a challenge, but walking, biking and getting local buses up Maryhill road into vet school are all possible.

There is one option for catered accomodation (where they cook food for you). Its is:

Wolfson Hall

This hall is the closest University accommodation to the vet school (only about a 10 minute walk away), and so often attracts the majority of vet student freshers.

It is extremely convenient to roll out of bed and troop down to vet school en mass with your fellow class-mates. There is an Amenities block for parties which are generally epic.
Buses into the West End make it is still very possible to be involved in main uni life - even though the halls are located outside of the west end (very close to vet school).
You get no kitchen facilities in your accommodation (because it is catered) but there are microwaves, sinks and fridges to keep lunch things in etc. They cook you breakfast and dinner, leaving you on your own for lunch. This option is of course more expensive than the other non-catered locations, so take all that into account when making your decision.
